I'm a designer specializing in books and ridiculous infographics. In 2005 I graduated from PSU with a BA in graphic design and moved to New York City to pursue a career in publishing. It was scary and lonely and hard and Future Amy is super grateful to Past Amy for doing it. During my 6 year career at Random House I had amazing mentors and designed all sorts of books and book covers from narrative nonfiction to cookbooks.

In a leap of faith I then joined as their Art Director where I 'made shit go viral' and had a lot of fun. In my spare time I art directed Slice Literary magazine and co-created, an international spy agency focusing on preserving the printed book. In 2012 I left New York on my motorcycle with a laptop and some gas money in search what was next. After 22 states, 9,000+ miles, and 5 months of homelessness I landed back in Oregon, my home state.

Since making Portland my home again I adopted 2 dogs, got in an ATV crash, learned how to bake pies, bought a house, began teaching design at PSU, and grew my freelance business. My clients include Abrams, Grand Central Books, Random House, Hachette, Prestel, Rizzoli, Sterling, Stewart Tabori & Chang, and w+k. Books I've designed have made the NY Times Best Seller's List and my internet work has been seen on Gothamist, The Huffington Post, Newsweek, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, PSFK, and Swiss Miss.
